Meet Boris!! He is getting so used to me now I think if I sat in the garden with food in my hand he would come and feed.
He was the first to try out their new bird bath and absolutely loved it! It was lovely watching him splashing, fluttering about in the water and then sitting on the plum tree preening himself and putting his feathers back in order.
Bird Lady
I am beginning to feel like the bird lady out of Mary Poppins!
Since I have started putting fat balls out in the garden I now have a garden full of birds. Two pairs of robins! One pair are there regularly throughout the day and I have named them Boris and Doris - photos to follow.
I have also had to have a tree chopped down as it nearly came down of its own accord with the snow and wind earlier this year. So I had a brain wave of chopping it down a few feet off the ground and putting an old wooden table top on the top of it to make a bird table. Then I have put some thick polythene on top so I can clean it and to prevent seeds, I am now putting on it, from falling through the slats. The birds love it!
Then I had an even better brain wave! I got my old large cat food bowl out of the shed, gave it a good wash and filled it with fresh water and put it under the bird table. :-) So now not only are my birds well fed but also watered and clean ;)

One less task to do
Well, I have one less task to do this weekend. Last weekend I bought a large tub of 30 fat balls for the birds, been buying them in a pack of 6 weekly and I am sure these garden birds gossip as 6 balls of food are not lasting the week now!

Photo taken at Lakeside Windermere
This robin was so tame. I initially started taking photos through railings but found the robin seemed to be posing for the photo. So I slowly moved inside the railings. The robin still sat there, so I went to the car for some cake to feed it. I think it was used to being fed on the railway bumper. Every time I fed it it would hop away and then back to eat the crumbs. I am sure if I put the crumbs on my hand it would have hopped onto my hand to eat them.
